Pennies For Poultry

Our Mission:

Here in the United States of America, nobody thinks twice about tossing a penny. We remove them from our pockets, push them aside when searching for vending machine money, and walk past them on the street. Sometimes one penny just isn’t worth the time it takes to stop and pick it up. However, in a third-world country it only takes one small bank full of those often-dismissed pennies to buy a chicken that could change the life of a child.

Pennies for Poultry is an education and sustainability program that encourages everyone, especially children, in the United States to save their pennies, and then donate them to be used to purchase chickens for communities, families, and orphanages in need around the globe. These chickens are purchased from the locals, are taken to the areas of need where coops are built, and then raised by the families and children who learn to care for them and collect eggs to be used as food or sold for income.

While children and givers in America learn that all things have value and that anyone can make a difference, no matter how small it may seem, children in areas of extreme poverty and hunger will be provided with food and a source of income. They learn what it means to give, share, and truly love thy neighbor.

Pennies for Poultry is more than just a program to end hunger; it seeks to educate others with the skills they need to raise, prepare, and sell their own food, and it unites God’s children from around the globe, through something as simple as a penny.

Project updates!

Currently, Pennies for Poultry is raising replacement laying hens for the LovetheLou project. We are working to purchase chickens and supplies for Bubago, Uganda in partnership with Connect to Uganda. More information can be found about these projects under "Current Projects."

We are also working to develop "Future Projects" in other areas. For example, we hope to someday focus on tiny house villages for homeless veterans here in the US.

This year we hope to have several successful fundraisers and deliver informational presentations for our current past and current projects, replace laying hens for the LovetheLou Project, and complete a project in partnership with Connect to Uganda!
